- John Glen as Cities Minister.
- Michael Ellis to Arts Minister.

- Heather Wheeler to Housing.
- Chloe Smith back to the Cabinet Office , where she has served before.

Most of these are former Whips. All the posts are at Under-Secretary level.
- It’s a very big shake-up at the Whips Office indeed (see below), but continuity at the top with Julian Smith in place, Chris Heaton-Harris still in the top four – and Chris Pincher back as deputy. His return-and-promotion after reporting himself to the police over allegations, and being cleared by the Party after an investigation, sends a signal to Tory MPs: do as you’re told, follow the rule book…and you’ll be looked after.
- The appointment of a mass of new women to it is undoubtedly a reaction to the pre-Christmas wave of sex allegations and scandals.
- However, nine of the top ten Whips are women (Rebecca Harris being the exception); six of the eight more junior whips are women.
- The Government always likes to bring back an oldie-but-goldie to encourage the older generations of MPs that they still have hopes for promotion. The revived Minister in question this time is Shailesh Vara (who at 57 is not all that old).

We have just received what appears to be the final tranche of appointments in the reshuffle – most notably the appointment of half a dozen female MPs from the 2015 intake as Whips:

- Mims Davies MP as an Assistant Government Whip
- Amanda Milling MP as an Assistant Government Whip.
- Jo Churchill MP as an Assistant Government Whip
- Wendy Morton MP as an Assistant Government Whip.
- Nusrat Ghani MP as an Assistant Government Whip and a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport.
There is also a move for Shailesh Vara, who goes to PUSS at Northern Ireland.
So it seems (hopefully) that this is the end of the two-day reshuffle, which featured more spills than its architects hoped and rather fewer thrills than they had pre-briefed to the press.
The Prime Minister has issued a concluding statement which hails the reshuffle as allowing “a new generation of gifted ministers to step up and make life better for people across the whole UK.” Whether the experience makes her life easier or not remains to be seen.
