The BBC is on the case of local government minister Bob Neill and whether public money should be spent on pot plants for civil servants' desks. You may remember that David Laws axed the Treasury's budget for them in his all-too-brief spell as Chief Secretary. All I can say is that I've always liked something green on my desk. I sit at my desk today with some freesias in a vase. I've never, however, expected my employer to pay for my pot plant.
