The Government risks inadvertently pushing up energy demand, meaning that if demand exceeds supply then energy will have to be rationed.
The Government’s aim should be to make pricing more competitive, less complicated, less bureaucratic and more flexible.
Government should ensure any plan delivers lower bills overall, not merely local subsidies paid for by the rest of us.
Splashing taxpayers’ cash is the President’s only reliable option. The Prime Minister has other tools at his disposal.
