Congratulations to Sandbach – and commiserations to Kemi Badenoch and Cllr Janet Clowes, the other two finalists. Mark Wallace profiled all three candidates recently on this site, and here’s what he wrote about Sandbach:
Previously a barrister, Sandbach has represented North Wales as a regional Member of the Welsh Assembly since 2011. In 2010 she stood in Delyn, where she increased the Conservative vote share by 8.5 percentage points.
With her selection, the proportion of women selected for “safe” Conservative seats rises to 11 out of 30 by my calculation – taking it to over a third of them (just) for the first time.
