There are no fewer than three honours’ lists to report.
First, the list of which more people are aware: that’s to say, the New Year’s Honours List. Sajid Javid is on it, becoming a knight.
Second, a separate political list, on which can be found David Davis, Liam Fox and Jeremy Quin, all of whom receive knighthoods. (Davis gets a Knighthood in the Order of the Bath.) Karen Bradley becomes Dame Karen Bradley.
Third, Liz Truss’s resignation honours list. Matthew Elliott, Jon Moynihan and Ruth Porter become peers.
Elliott was campaign director of the NOtoAV campaign during the Alternative Vote referendum and the Chief Executive of Vote Leave. He is currently President of the Jobs Foundation, and has been a regular contributor to this site.
Moynihan, a businessman, was Chairman of Business for Britain’s editorial board and the final Chairman of Vote Leave. He was also the Chairman of Truss’s Conservative leadership election campaign in 2022.
Porter has worked recently as Head of Government Relations at London Stock Exchange Group and as the Managing Director of FGS Global. She was Truss’s Deputy Chief of Staff at 10 Downing Street.
Jacky Doyle-Price becomes a Dame and Alec Shelbrooke a knight.
