Former Police and Crime Commissioner and current Westminster Councillor Festus Akinbusoye has revealed in the Telegraph that he will be running to be the Conservative candidate for London Mayor three days after Sir James Cleverly announced he would enter the race. This confirms, that as expected there will be a contest and as we reported with Festus there are others considering their options to run, including Alex Challoner.
Festus will be known to readers, as a regular contributor to ConHome.
He says he’s a ‘fresh face’ and that someone not attached to to the previous Government has a better chance to win in the capital.
